Who We Are

Growing to be a world-class competitive, environmentally responsible, and efficient potash producer

Western Potash Corp. is building Canada's most efficient potash solution mine. Utilizing innovative selective solution mining technologies, Western plans to develop the world-class Milestone potash deposit in an ecologically sustainable, economically efficient, and socially responsible manner. Western Potash Corp, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Western Resources Corp, is headquartered in Regina, Saskatchewan. Western Potash Corporation was established in April 2017 with the acquisition of over 148,000 acres of Crown and Freehold mineral leases in Saskatchewan.

Implementing a multi-stage development plan, Western plans to exploit the Milestone potash field with innovative selective solution mining technique resulting in potash production of 146,000 tonnes per annum. The Phase I model will then be expanded and scaled up for Phase II at 300,000 tons per annual to prove overall project economics and prove scalability, and finally duplicated in Phase III (1.4 million TPA) and IV (1.4 million TPA) for a total capacity of over 3 million tons per annum, making Western Potash the 7th largest potash producer globally.

Key Investment Highlights

Near-term restart value
Western Potash has substantially completed the Phase I surface facilities, creating the potential to generate cash flow on a near-term basis following financing, completion of the remaining underground work program and wet commissioning.

Large Saskatchewan potash resource base
The Milestone Project is supported by a large, high-grade Saskatchewan potash resource base. The long-term value of Western Potash lies in the scale and quality of this underlying mineral asset, including its high-grade KCl characteristics and long-life development potential. Any specific resource or reserve numbers should be conformed to the Company’s latest NI 43-101 technical disclosure before publication.

Long-term 2.8Mtpa expansion pathway
Western Potash has completed feasibility-level work and obtained environmental approval for a potential large-scale conventional solution mining project of up to approximately 2.8 million tonnes per annum. This provides the Company with a defined long-term development pathway and potential future operating platform beyond the initial Phase I facility.

Innovative selective solution mining optionality
Phase I has advanced Western Potash’s innovative selective horizontal solution mining approach. This method is designed to reduce or eliminate surface salt-tailings deposition and has the potential to materially reduce capital intensity and operating costs for smaller-scale modular potash operations when compared with conventional large-scale solution mining developments.

Strategic potash platform
The combination of near-term restart potential, substantial Phase I facility completion, large-scale permitted expansion optionality, Saskatchewan resource depth and technology-driven development flexibility distinguishes Western Potash from early-stage greenfield potash projects and conventional single-path development assets.

What We Are Building

Western Potash Corp is building one of the most technologically advanced potash solution mines in the province of Saskatchewan. Benefits of the Milestone Project include:

  • Lower cost: Lower capital and operating cost than conventional solution mining;
  • Less resource consumption: Half of the water use required compared to a typical solution mine. Lower energy consumption due to high formation temperatures and natural crystallization in pond;
  • Access to additional resources: Traditional methods aren't accessible to reserves of over 1500m in depth solution mining methods.
  • Reduced environmental foot print: Less surface impact due to the absence of a salt tailings facility, less subsidence and fewer pollutants; and
  • Scalable production: The Project will provide a scalable production facility that has the potential to be expanded to meet future market requirements and changing investment appetites.

Western Potash Corporation has strong ties with our local community and support from local and provincial governments. Western also works with many local, national and international businesses.
